Hasta, the hand

Hasta is the hand. Savitr is the deity in the usual list. Craft, skill with the fingers, and a careful purchase gather under this name.

The symbol is a palm. Jewellers, tailors, surgeons, anyone whose work is in the fingers, hear their trade mentioned when Hasta comes up. Buying a vehicle is another errand families park on this star, which is why the muhurtham engine has a separate event for it rather than borrowing the wedding rules.

Savitr, the impeller of the Gayatri, is the deity named in the table. That does not make every Hasta day a day for the Gayatri, and it does not make the Gayatri a Hasta ritual. The two meet in textbooks. They do not collapse into each other.

A birth chart with the Moon in Hasta gets a nakshatra lord and a pada. Skill is not delivered with the birth certificate. The hand still has to practice.
